Payroll and people admin, off your plate
Nobody started a construction or real estate business to spend Thursday nights on payroll runs, W-4s and onboarding packets. DaxHive runs your payroll and people admin for you — in the payroll platform you already use — so your crew gets paid right and on time, your records stay clean, and hiring stops eating your evenings.

People ops in your industry, specifically
Construction
- Crew payroll run reliably — hourly, overtime, multiple job sites
- Subcontractor vs. employee classification — records kept clean, determinations coordinated with licensed partners
- Certified payroll for Davis-Bacon public jobs — weekly WH-347 reporting kept accurate and on time
Real estate
- Leasing agents & maintenance techs onboarded with the right paperwork
- Commission tracking support — so payouts match what was actually closed
- People records that keep pace as your portfolio and team grow
Why sloppy payroll is expensive payroll
HR admin feels like paperwork right up until it becomes a penalty. The failure modes are predictable:
- Worker misclassification — one of the costliest mistakes a contractor can make, with back taxes and penalties attached
- Late or wrong payroll — penalties from the tax agencies, and worse: a crew that stops trusting payday
- Missing onboarding paperwork — discovered at exactly the moment it matters most
- Hiring admin eating owner evenings — postings, screening and scheduling done at 10pm because there's no one else
None of it requires a full-time HR hire — it requires someone whose job is to make sure it happens, every cycle, without you thinking about it.
What does outsourced HR & payroll cost?
HR & payroll is DaxHive's most affordable entry point, from $299/mo — or take the whole back office in one subscription:
Payroll processing, hiring support, onboarding & HR records. Month-to-month.
Includes every DaxHive service — HR & payroll plus bookkeeping, tax, fractional CFO & COO, marketing and tech.
Month-to-month, cancel anytime. Payroll platform fees (Gusto, ADP, etc.) are billed to your own account. See full pricing.
Payroll is half people, half money
Payroll data flows straight into your books — which is why many clients pair HR & payroll with DaxHive bookkeeping, so wages, taxes and job costs land in the right place every month. And if scheduling, vendors and the rest of the admin load are the bigger problem, a fractional COO takes the whole operational layer, people admin included.
HR & payroll — FAQ
Who handles HR and payroll for a construction company?
A construction company really has two options: buy payroll software and run it yourself every week, or hand the whole thing to a team that runs it for you. DaxHive is the second — outsourced HR and payroll built for real estate and construction, from $299/mo. We work inside the payroll platform you already use (Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Payroll or another) and handle the parts that make construction payroll different from a normal office: crews paid hourly with overtime across multiple job sites, subcontractor-vs-employee records kept clean, and weekly certified payroll (Form WH-347) for Davis-Bacon public jobs filed on time. Software is still something you have to operate; DaxHive is the people who operate it. Employment-law questions and prevailing-wage determinations are coordinated through licensed partners, never guessed.
How much does outsourced payroll cost?
Payroll software alone typically runs $40–$150+/mo plus per-employee fees — and that still leaves you doing the work. DaxHive's HR & payroll service starts from $299/mo: we run the payroll processing, hiring admin, onboarding and records for you, in your existing platform. Or bundle everything on MATRIX at $3,000/mo.
Can you run payroll in Gusto, ADP or QuickBooks Payroll?
Yes — we work in your existing payroll platform, whether that's Gusto, ADP, QuickBooks Payroll or another system. Your account, your data, our operations. If you don't have a platform yet, we'll help you pick one and set it up in your name.
Do you handle workers' comp and benefits?
Workers' comp, benefits plans and other regulated matters are coordinated through licensed partners — brokers, PEOs and advisors credentialed for that work. DaxHive handles the administration and coordination around them; DaxHive does not itself provide legal, insurance or benefits advice.
Can you help me hire?
Yes. Recruiting and hiring support is part of the service: writing the posting, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and running the offer and onboarding paperwork — so a hire takes a decision from you, not a month of evenings.
What about classifying workers as employees vs. subcontractors?
Classification is a legal determination with real penalties attached, so we treat it that way: DaxHive keeps the documentation and payment records organized, and the classification questions themselves are handled with licensed partners — attorneys and CPAs qualified to advise on them. We never guess on classification.
Do you handle certified payroll and prevailing-wage reporting for construction jobs?
Yes. If you take public work under the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, we keep your payroll structured for weekly certified-payroll reporting — the classifications, hours, gross wages and fringe benefits that go onto Form WH-347, filed with the contracting agency within seven days of each pay date. DaxHive keeps those records clean and the reports prepared on time; the underlying prevailing-wage determination — which wage rate and fringe amount applies to each classification — is a regulated call we coordinate through licensed partners, never guess.
